MAC ATTACK

I loved my MAC.

Yes, past tense.

No, not the makeup, my Macintosh computer. My beloved Apple IMAC G5.

When we purchased it a few years ago, I swore I would never go back to a Windows PC.

Well, never say never.

A few weeks ago, my MAC took a dive! After Google'ing the issue and talking to an Apple representative, we figured out it was doing something called "Kernal Panic." Sounds pretty serious, huh?

My husband took it into the Apple store so they can determine if it was a hardware or a software issue. I was praying it was the latter.

The Apple Genius said the problem was the logic board. The "mother board", if you will. The heart of the computer!

What does that mean?

It means $600 to fix it!

Um...thanks, but NO THANKS!

You can buy a brand new one for just over $1,300.

This is when I became THANKFUL for the kids computers. The ones we use for school (and for blogging and Facebook).

I realize now, that just as long as I can access those sites, nothing else matters.

Anyway...

This is where the good news comes in.

My sister in-law had a laptop that was just sitting around her house.

So, what did she do?

She offered it to me, and of course, I said, "YES!"

Excited and overjoyed are an understatement!

I've never had a laptop before and I'm lovin' it!

What a blessing!

OK well if you compare a MAC vs. a laptop... of course the laptop is gonna win....but I don't think I could ever give up my iMac....I've had an Apple/Macintosh/iMac since 1987 (yep...back when I thought I was bad for having two disk drives...)

Yeah! Good sister-in-law! She is great and now you are even luckier because you don't have to spend the money! Good for you.

Thank God for sisters-in-law! :)

It's scary how much we rely on our computer these days, isn't it? The couple of times I had problems with mine, I was in a rut and was not able to breathe easily until it was fixed.

Yes! its really a blessing. I am planning to buy also a laptop to lessen my electricity consumption. My mother board also broke down but it was under warranty and you know what my CPU was brought to Malaysia because INTEL Co. is no longer in the Philippines. Good, cause my son in law let me borrowed his other laptop.hmmmm

Nooooooooooo! I thought once you go Mac, you never go back?! ;-) My husband and I went from a PC laptops to our Macbooks, so my heart is hurting and torn: on the one hand, it awesome to have the portability of a laptop. On the other hand, it's a PC! LOL! ;-) Any way you shake it, I'm glad you didn't have to shell out $600. That's a whole lot of money!

Nice! I'm so glad you found another one quickly.

I was just saying yesterday that I like my $400 laptop vs my boys more expensive desktop.

Hi Alicia, my son Vinny wants a MacBook but I can't afford one just yet. We have two computers at home; my Dell laptop and our Dell desktop. I have a wireless card on my laptop only, so the kids are always bickering about who gets the internet. Last night my son spent about 4 hours on homework. I was sewing in my "sweatshop", and I could see him doing his homework. I know the need is there but with prices so high, we will have to wait for a new laptop.

You are blessed and that gives me hope. Take care and hope you have a FAB day!

They should make those stickers that say "IM BOTH...a MAC AND A PC" cuz that is how I roll as well. I have an IMAC and 2 desktops and 2 laptops...good gravy. I am in the computer industry...can you tell...

Sorry about Gmac...;)

Your SIL is awesome. That's wonderful you have a laptop replacement. Laptops are the only thing I can use. Sitting still at a desk is impossible for me!

Oh, I'm mourning your mac. I love mine so. Hubs has an ibook which he loves. It's cool and all, but I really like my desktop. Maybe because I'm half blind???

So cool that you have a rockin' sister in law :D

A Blessing for sure. How neat. I love my mac too, but if someone gave me a computer i would take it too:) Mac or not:)

Honey....don't you know that once you go Mac you never go back?

All of us Mac users know you are only cheating because that PC came free. No honest to goodness Mac girl would ever actually spend good money on a PC.

PS: My hubby has a Gateway Laptop that I sometimes use....but don't tell my iMac.

B and I both have laptops. He has a Mac and I have a PC. We both love our own computers :)

Laptops are the best!! I have a macbook and I would not be able to live without it. Hubby's computer died over the weekend so he just bought a new iMac desktop on Sunday. What stinks is they just released a new version of the iMac with more memory and what not for the same price as what he paid for the older version. Needless to say he is not happy. I told him he should of just bought a laptop LOL.

I didn't know computers could get "sick" like that. Glad another was provided for you to use. Blessings, :O)

Definitely time for a new Mac! I would be devastated if mine got ill. I think I'll be sick along with it. LOL Glad your sis-in-law was there to save the day. Don't you just love family? =D

How sad to see your MAC go, but HELLO Laptop! I want a laptop so badly. Oh, the blogging I could get done with a laptop! And I really want to be able to access blogger and facebook from the hospital right after I have the baby...you know, to upload pics and such.

I'm still working on getting mine by November. We'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, enjoy yours!

It is so sad when our computers go to "computer heaven" lol. When mine died, I inherited my husband's MacBook Pro laptop - I got a deal from it all!
