CALL ME SENTIMENTAL

My older kids have gone to camp with our church since they were elementary school age.

You would think that by now, I would be "okay" saying goodbye as the bus drives away.

Yes, I do think of what a break I'll have, and how much more quiet the house will be.

But, at the same time, I'm counting down the days till they come back.

Yesterday, the Jr. Highers left to Winter Camp.

My oldest son didn't go this time since he just got over being sick. I want him totally better before he goes off to the snow!

So, it's just my oldest daughter that went, and I know she will be fine, and I know the Lord is totally watching over the kids.

It's only a four hour drive. No biggie.

And she will be home before we can really start to miss her.

It probably seems like she'll be gone for a week.

Nope, just a weekend camp trip. They'll be back Sunday evening!

Here she is (in the front left with the red jacket) with her closest friends! They are excited!

And here is the Youth Pastor, going over the rules, and praying with the kids.

Totally not looking forward to my kids going off to things like camp, or heck, even Kindergarten this fall! :(

Abscence makes the heart grow fonder??? Maybe that will help? :)

Hope she has a great time!

I think I know how you feel, although, we still have a few more years to go before we do that, I think. I might volunteer to be "help" out at the camp if the kids won't think it'd cramp their style. :)

I CANNOT imagine sending my child away to camp. I'll be a mess! I don't think you ever get over letting them out from under your wing. (((hugs)))

I keep thinking camp would be fun for The Midge, and then I start thinking of how much I would miss her... But you know Miranda is having a great time at camp and will be back safe and sound soon...

You never get over missing them. My daughter is 28 and lives 3 hours away and this past week she surprised me and drove here after work at 5, got here about 8, stayed til 10 and then drove home. Just cause she missed me. I hated to let her go. But I bet your daughter is having a blast!

I can imagine how hard that is. I always miss my kids even if they are just gone a few hours...but there are days when I'd love to get rid of them, lol. I hope she has a wonderful time. It's important for kids to feel they have a place to belong and to be with other positive adults and great friends.

What great memories she'll bring back ;D

I can only imagine when my turn comes, I will feel the same way.

But, looking back on my middle and high school days, those youth group trips make up some of my best memories.

I looooooooved summer camp. I remember this first time my mom forced me to go. I knew NO ONE, since I was new to that church and cried the whole way there. Well, mom cried the whole way home...but when they came to pick me up a day early to go on our family vacation to Disney world, I didn't want to leave! AND, that's where I decided that following Christ wasn't just a phase it was an expression of the heart. So I really, REALLY love camp.

I feel the same way when my teen goes away. Praying always helps and strengthens me, if not I would totally run after the bus ... Oh wait I did that one time LOL
