FRIDAY PHOTO FLASHBACK

I started "Friday Photo Flashback" because I have so many pictures from my PRE-digital camera days. I thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! So dig out the photo albums and put your scanner to good use! Don't forget to sign in to MckLinky so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs.

1960-ish

I not sure the exact year, but I do know it's in the 60's.

My mom is the one on the right, and she and the other gal were performing traditional Filipino dances. I don't know the name of them (I'll have to see if she even remembers), but I'm sure it was wonderful. It looks like that is my grandma on the far right, in the coral dress.

Oh! I remember I had also a picture wearing that costume but sad to say it was destroyed when we experience flood. It was taken during our high school dance also. This is a nice picture...

Oh! I love seeing the traditional costumes! How graceful they look!

Blessings & Aloha!
It may be a while, but I hope to catch up with everybody!

its great that you have a copy of this picture!! :D so vintage :D

and yes, this is a traditional folk dance in the Philippines :) and based on the costume, it should be a dance from Visayas region (?) what province is she from?

looking at her hand, it seems they are dancing "itik itik". Rose mentioned of "pandango sa ilaw" but i don't see any glass with candles in their hands or head. :) > just my thought though.

I love all the women's hairstyles in this picture! Sometimes I wish we women still put that much work into our hair and then I realize that half the time I can't even find the time to comb my hair, let alone put it in a beehive, lol :)

Oh the hairdo! My mom showed me pictures of her hairdos back in the days. I think they're so beautiful but she says that it took a long time to style it everyday.

Ummm... reminds me of my hubby's photos when he was a kid and part of a community performance troupe.

Was she dancing the "itik-itik" ? It looks like it from the position of her hands. Was that a school program (maybe "Linggo Ng Wika)?
