Friday Photo Flashback

I started "Friday Photo Flashback" because I have so many pictures from my PRE-digital camera days. I thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! So dig out the photo albums and put your scanner to good use! Don't forget to link up so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs!

Here's another "oldie but goodie!" This picture holds so many memories because this was when we lived in Hawaii. My eldest, Isaiah, is in the front left, and Miranda is the only girl on the right!  The two boys in the front middle are my sisters boys, and the biggest boy in the back is my husbands nephew who was visiting us. The two boys on his left and right of him are my friends kids who were also vacationing in Hawaii, and the boy right in front of him is one my sister's friends kids. Okay, confused enough now? And I love how they are all doing "shaka sign!" It's a Hawaii thang!

It was a special memory because there was family visiting! The house we were at was a house that my brother in-laws company built, and were in the process of selling. It is a beautiful home, smack dab in front of the beach in Kahala. We were able to swim there as much as we wanted. Just one of the perks of living in Hawaii!

Clean Shmean!

Okay..I'm really, really excited about this!

Lately, I've been feeling so overwhelmed about catching up with housework.

Seems like I can never catch up, and when I do, I do it with a not so good heart.

I know it's wrong because we should do all things unto the Lord.

This is where the excitement comes in.

Sarah Mae @Like A Warm Cup Of Coffee has written this E-book that you can download for only $4.99. It's not another book on how to have a perfect house, but to have the heart to want to clean it, and to bless your family by doing so. I have to admit that this is one of my biggest things that I lack.

If this is one of your stumbling blocks, I highly recommend checking it out. I know I am!

Happy Cleaning!

Goodbye Glasses...Hello Contacts

I've been wanting to get contacts again for A LONG TIME! I've just always been too lazy, and honestly, glasses are so easy!

I finally realized that I miss wearing sunglasses! Especially now since it's starting to get sunny again!

So..goodbye glasses (well, just until I get home)...

Don't we all have pictures of our kids on a pony? I totally remember this day, too. We had just moved back to California from Hawaii and were staying with my in-laws. My mother in-law took my kids to McDonald's because the pony guy was there! They all came out super cute!! This is Eli (my 3rd child) when he was about 1 1/2 years old.

Dim Sum..YUM!

After church on Sunday, me, and three of my girlfriends planned on going to lunch. I was excited that we were going to have dim sum at May Flower Seafood Restaurant. I was starving by the time we got there, so of course, everything they brought out,we said yes to! Our eyes were bigger than our mouths because we had at least fifteen plates on our table! We didn't even finish half of it. I would have taken better pictures, but I only had my cell phone.

In the back left, that is roast duck, on the right is bbq pork, there are also bbq pork buns, and I forget what that cake looking thing was called.
Photobucket

We had a variey of seafood dishes, and dumplings. Of course, we ordered fried rice, too.
Photobucket

In the back was this won ton type of wrapper filled with shrimp. On the right was like deep fried tarot with shrimp on top.  And on the bottom were potstickers. There was so much more than this!

So You Think You Can Sing And Act?

Our school had their very first Jr. High play/musical, called "Pirate Island."

So much work has gone into this, and the teacher directing it was stressed out, even till the night of the play.

However, the kids pulled it off, and did AMAZING!

And guess what?

My two older kids had the lead parts!

Now, if you were to know my son in "real life," he is VERY mellow, and does not like to sing in front of people. He plays guitar, but there is always someone else doing vocals. So, for him to stand up there in front of at least 200+ people and sing, and act, you would be in shock! He has such a great voice!

My daughter LOVES to sing and act, so we weren't surprised she did so well. But, just like our son, she exceeded any expectation we would of had.

We're so proud of them, and this has really motivated them to do more plays in the future!

I just wish I took more pictures, but you can imagine how nervous I was, too!

Inside the booklet were pictures of the entire cast. There were also pictures of their practices, and a place for autographs.

Some of the pirates! My son on the far left. "Captain Peach!"

My daughter (who's role was a teacher), their teacher who directed the play, Peng (played a native), and my son, Isaiah (Captain Peach).

At the end, they presented their teacher with a bouquet of flowers, and do you know what she did?

She gave them to Miranda.

So sweet!

Happy Birthday, Honey!

It was my husband's 40th birthday yesterday, and my kids actually suggested that he and I go out to dinner alone! The two older kids even offered to babysit for us! We have never done that before, but I knew that they were capable of doing that for just a couple of hours! We bought them pizza and soda, and they were happy campers!

It was SOOOO nice, and we felt like we had a little bit of freedom to enjoy ourselves!

Since I wasn't making a cake, I wanted pick one up before we went to dinner, so we could enjoy it with the kids when we got home. This particular bakery in a grocery store has the best cakes! It was hard to choose, but I ended up getting a ladyfinger cake!

Photobucket

But, I couldn't stop there, and had to pick up these mini desserts as well!

Delicious Fruit Tart

Chocolate Fudge Pie

Raspberry Mousse! I had to take a picture in different lighting because my flash was totally making this look all white.
Photobucket

I started off backward, but I want to show you our dinner, too! My husband wanted to go to his favorite Vietnamese Restaurant because he was craving for Pho (soup). They have other delicious entrees, so I didn't mind going.

We started with these fresh spring rolls that come with a peanut dipping sauce. I love these!
Photobucket

This is my husbands soup. Underneath all that broth is rice noodles and crab.
Photobucket

And I had the barbeque pork & shrimp over lettuce. Normally, you have the choice of having it with rice or noodles, but I didn't want to get too full. I wanted to save room for dessert!

Back to Junior High

This past Saturday, I was able to take a stroll down memory lane!

My oldest daughter had a soccer game at my Junior High/Middle School. I played on that same field she was on, but that was 30 years ago, friends! Whoa!

During her halftime, I walked around the campus to take some pictures. So many things have changed, but some things have stayed the same. I still remembered little details about where I hung out, and where some of my classes were.

For example. See those horseshoe benches? We sat there before P.E. started, and many times I would wait there after school for my friends. The locker rooms are on the right. The big building on the left is a new addition. It is a community center, and it's only been there a few years.
Photobucket

This is the stage at our amphitheater. So many fun events happened right on that stage. This is where I read my 8th grade speech to be 8th grade President (I won), there were dance contests held there, and of course, many other things. Directly behind it are doors to the gymnasium, and to the right is where the line was to to get food from the cafeteria.
Photobucket

This is the sitting area facing the stage.
Photobucket

This is a funny memory. I had my first kiss right there by the middle column!! LOL!!!! I would DIE if my daughter kissed a boy at 13 years old!
Photobucket

The gym where we ate lunch and also had our school dances! So much fun!

And lastly, the field my daughter is playing at! My #37!!

Scripture Sunday

"For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."-Romans 5:6-8

Forgive me if I've already shared this photo, but I'm too lazy to look back at all my FPF posts to see if I did.  It's been such a buys day, and I didn't prepare this in advance!!

This was my Senior Ball picture that I took with my friend, Susanna. It's funny because we went to the ball with different friends, but we had to make sure we took a photo together! And, SMALL WORLD..the guy I went to the ball with has a daughter who plays on my daughter's soccer team!!!

I Heart Deli Sandwiches!

After the boys and I left Borders the other day, I had a huge craving for deli sandwiches! Specifically, hot pastrami! Nothing against Subway, but in my opinion, it doesn't compare to Togo's. My favorite is the turkey & avocado. It's always so fresh! However, this time, I wanted a warm sandwich! My boys aren't big sandwich eaters, but they love ones from here!

Mmm..look at all that pastrami!!

I got my daughter the Italian Club! All Italian meats and cheese!

And I think this turkey and roast beef! YUM!

For The Love Of Reading!

I'm so glad that my three younger kids inherited the love of reading from me! I remember when I was their age and getting those forms from school to order books. I can't even begin to explain how much I LOVED that, and I always wished I was able to get all the books I wanted! When I was older, I loved walking into a bookstore! I could stay in one for hours!

Of course, when the kids were little, I wouldn't be able to take the kids with me without them getting impatient or bored. Now that they are older, they asked if they could buy books instead of returning them at the library.

I was like, "SURE!!!!!!!"

I couldn't wait to go to Borders because they were having a closeout sale!

So, I went with my two youngest boys, and I had such a great time with them!

Here is Eli looking for books to buy!

Long Day and Good Eats!

Our school played their second game of soccer last week, and I was so happy that my daughter was able to play that day! It's an all boys team, but since they were short subs, they allowed her to play. And it's not her first bbq either. She's been playing on boys teams alot longer than her all girl team this Spring. The girl is quick! I love it when I hear people saying, "Wow, look at that girl! She's fast!" And, she knows how to use her body to get the ball. Love it!!

Just waitin' for the ball!
Photobucket

My husband was able to make it to the game after work and help coach the team!

Afterward, we were all starving and met my sis in-law for dinner! YUMMY nachos at our favorite Mexican restaurant!
