MAKING YOUR HOME SING MONDAY

I am linking up with my friend,Mom's The Word to participate in her Monday meme, "Making Your Home Sing Monday." It's a day when we share what we are doing to bless our families in our home. If you would like to join in, click here.

We don't wear shoes in the house, period. So, I promise you that you will never see shoes scattered around the house....ever!

However, you will see shoes on the front porch and everywhere in the garage!

Most of the time, we come in the house through the garage, so can you imagine ALL THE PAIRS of shoes that are in there? There are even some pairs some missing the left or the right shoe/sandal/flip flop/boot...you get the picture!

Now, I am positive that I just went through all the shoes not too long ago, but for some reason, it looks like the tower of shoes just got bigger! My mom lovingly suggested that I go through those shoes and finally get rid of the ones we don't need!

So, since it's on my mind, I will bless my home (garage) by clearing out all the neglected shoes(s). This will make it so much easier for everyone to spot the ones they DO use!!

Now, how will YOU "Make Your Home Sing" today?

  1. Here in our place whatever shoes or other things we don't used we put it on the sack for storage then if it is accumulated we give it to our less privileged neighbors during our bible study fellowship.

  2. We are not too bad on the shoe front! Although I only have 2 kids so can imagine how it gets at your house!

  3. Thanks for encouraging...I am headed out to our mountain and hopefully I can get it down to a mole hill. ;o) Too many feet in the house.

  4. Thanks for the reminder - we need to weed out our shoes too now that we added new school shoes to the collection.

  5. It must be refreshing to come into your home. I have a friend who has a "no shoes" rule and I wish I'd started that rule years ago, but it's just not gonna happen now. Clean floors, clean carpets, no tracking in anything (seen or unseen) from the outside world! :)
You are making your home sing even without organizing those shoes!
Have a beautiful day sweet friend!

  6. I have the NO SHOES in the house rule, too...
I get kind of OCD when some in-laws bring their shoes in the house...I keep following their tracks (lol)
How do I make my Monday sing? - we sleep really late...unless it's school time. So I guess there's no singing going on..

  9. I miss not wearing shoes in our house...like when we lived in Hawaii. But with visitors...they never seem to understand taking the shoes off! Our floors are definitely dirtier. We do have 2 shoe baskets in the front room because we are so used to not wearing shoes. Never had a shoe basket in HI. You just leave them outside or at the door. ;) And you never have to ask people, haoule or not...service repair people, movers, etc. Everyone takes their shoes off!

  10. I can relate, tho, we keep most of the shoes in the foyer closet. It does make a big difference!

  11. I can relate! How do 2 people have soooo many shoes???? A Goodwill drop off is in my future!

  12. I need to do this so bad! We made a rule to not have shoes in the house but we failed only a few days in. TERRIBLE!!! I think I may just have to go through my shoes this week too!! ;)

  13. I thought it would be great to create a shoe closet downstairs b/c we always seem to have shoes EVERYWHERE! So I did...and after only a few weeks....my hubby gently ask me, "Have you smelled that closet lately? It sure smells like feet!"

K, so maybe not a great idea. Now, i am trying to figure out who has the stinky shoes!!! lol.

  14. We have a pile of shoes beside our garage door that I need to do the same thing with. Good luck!

  15. We don't wear our shoes in the house either. Well, my mom does. But hubby and kids go barefoot and I often wear house slippers.

It just protects the carpet. My son's friends all know the rules and take off their shoes the minute they come in the house. Teenagers with big muddy feet and carpet don't go together well, lol!

Thank you for linking up today!

  16. We take our shoes off too but inside by the door. If I wasn't so worried about a bug getting inside the shoes, I'd leave ours in the garage too.

  17. I really need to tackle this soon! Thanks for the reminder:-)

  18. We are shoes off kindof people too, but right inside the door. I hope that you get through them all and maybe find some that you were missing.

  19. I would imagine your pile of shoes looks pretty similar to my pile of shoes. We have a shoe organizer by our front door, with the intention that everyone's supposed to take their shoes off and put them in the organizer upon walking in the house. But do they? No....I'm always the one walking around yelling, "Okay, where's the match to this shoe??". It gets frustrating sometimes when I'm trying to get more organized and the family just rebels!!

  22. We have the no shoes rule too (growing up with a japanese mother it has become a habit that I passed on to my kids) Our garage is forever covered in shoes and for some reason it's always my shoes that I can't find the mate to.

  23. We don't wear shoes in the house either. Of course, my MIL will never take her shoes off when she comes over ;) I swear it's to bug me...LOL.

  24. Our shoes accumulate in our entry hall. Then our girls play with them and scatter them all over the house! :)

  25. That's a good idea....coming from someone who nearly always breaks her neck by tripping on piles of shoes...

  26. We're learning to leave our shoes outside, but we have this weird mix of sometimes and sometimes not. Shoes are still a problem, but I'm glad to learn I'm not the only one who struggles to tame them...phew!

  27. Actually, it just so happens that my husband had shirts made for the family years ago and the kids like to wear them when we all go out together. And Jen's family like to all match when the go out to keep track of everyone. And there you have it!

  28. I really, really need to start the no shoe in house rule. Our carpets are so light, I have to have them cleaned way too often.

  29. Your blog is really cute!

Wanted to tell you that I'm an elementary art teacher and keep a blog with lots of lesson plans and such, and Pictures! Many homeschooling moms enjoy my blog and use the ideas to give their kids the art experience.

Feel free to check out either blog--my personal one or my art one! Tell your other homeschooling friends about my art blog...I love doing it!

  30. we don't wear shoes in the house either but they are matched up and put in the closet by the front door. occasionally they do end up is a heaping mess and I ask one of the kids to pair them and stack them neatly in the closet otherwise there would be no getting in or out of the house. 6 pair of feet here and 7 at your home.

  31. I love this Filipino tradition! I do it with my rug only but would love to have a shoe rack so we could do it for the whole house too. maybe a shoe garage is a good idea too. ;)
