I'm so glad there is a Filipino market right around the corner, so after church, I stopped over there and indulged in a couple of my faves!
Here is the lumpia! It's all chopped veggies inside, and deep friend in like a won ton wrapper!
This is called "turon." This would be considered dessert! Better known as banana lumpia. They drizzled caramel on top! Yum!
And finally, here is another dessert called Kutsinta, which is pronounced "koot-chin-ta." It's hard to describe the texture of this. It's like a combination of jello and custard, and not too sweet. It's wonderful with the shredded coconut on top of it.
I would definitely say it's an acquired taste because I can't really pinpoint what it is similar to! But, trust me, it is good!
You just had to post photos of some of my favorite Filipino foods, didn't you? ;) Now I'm craving Lumpia, Turon and Kutsinta! You are just going to have to share, Alicia. Your photos look good enough to eat. LOL

ReplyDeleteOk, I am going to have to try that Lumpia! Your friend could be a guest blogger on my recipe blog. The blogsite gets many hits but nobody comments! I don't worry about comments because I am waiting to print my recipe blog for my daughter when she heads out to college! Anyway, I have got to try those! The dessert thingy. I'm not so sure of. I'm weird with certain textures that might be rubbery or thicker.
