WAR!

This was the card game that my daughter wanted to play with me the other day!

I love being able to capture moments like this on my camera! Of course, after so many pictures, she was saying, "Okay, no more pictures!!"

It's so funny playing these games with my kids because they really don't know how to handle losing!! Even my good natured, sweet son, Eli, quit mid-game when he realized he wasn't doing so great! I told them that if they were poor losers, I wouldn't play cards with them anymore.

And you guys thought I was the "fun" mom, right? LOL!!!

I told her, "No cheating!!!" She doesn't even try to hide it. She's purposely looking for a card to beat mine!!
She's happy with her pile of cards! Peace!
Whatcha got??
"I'm doing good!!"
"Uhhh...maybe not!"
"I don't want to play anymore!!"

THAT'S WHEN I HAD "THE POOR LOSER" TALK WITH HER!!

Oh...now that's MUCH better!!!
The moral of the story: "You win some, you lose some..."

  4. That's so cute! I love that game although it can last hours and hours without end. When Lucas just started playing games he would cheat and I told him I wasn't playing with cheaters :) never really been a sore loser though..he just loves to play.

Jacob will get irritated when other people win though...he'll say just let me win one :) Okay...you didn't have to pull my leg...he's still my baby!

  5. i love your pictures and your commentating! LOL
It made me laugh when I saw her sad face! not at her but because you are so funny and she is so beautiful. What a good mom to be able to teach your children how to deal with disappointments. Much better to learn through love than the sting of a peer.

  6. LOL! I can't get over that first photo of her literally picking through the cards without hiding them, and then her sad face a few frames later. I guess all kids have to learn those hard lessons sometime. ;-} (And a good thing she has a Mommy to teach her!)

  7. Hardest lessons for kids to learn, huh? Some adults still haven't learned to lose...they could take a lesson from you too.

  8. Cute! We go through that anytime we play tic tac toe with my oldest....he always thinks he should win!

  11. Oh, I love the poor loser photo, lol. Yes, I remember all too well, the instant change between complete happiness and fun to despair and grouchiness...oh my!
    Have a beautiful day Alicia!

  12. What a cute post. she has the cutest expressions! We don't let our kids win all the time here either. Too important to learn that you don't always win ( a card game, a soccer game, a part in the theatre, a job when you get older). It's a good lesson and you are a great Mommy!

  23. Oh cute pictures! I remember having to train our young children to be a gracious winner and a good loser.

They didn't like losing either and would get mad. Then they'd get a good talking to, perhaps a timeout, and then back to finish the game with a better attitude.

Who knew that game playing would be so much work, lol!

I don't know why puppies like to do that either!

  25. Hi Alicia,

    She is beautiful!

I know; that is why I like it when I lose first, so that they have no excuse for complaining when they lose. After all, really it is supposed to be fun just playing the game together. Some adults never get that either. They are really no fun to play games with. But I do feel bad if I ALWAYS lose, which is how some games are for me…but then again, at least I get to make everyone else happy because they do not lose as often or in such a big way as I do!

    ♥Hope

  29. Oh she is just darling. My daughter is the SAME way with playing games.

Perhaps you can come over and have a chat with my little girl, too :)

  30. My oldest son is like that too when we play games. He'll start crying if he's losing or if he can't figure it out. I always tell him that it's not about who wins or loses but it's about having fun and playing fair. Think that helps? No....it goes in one ear, out the other!

Cute pics...I love that first one...her smile is so smug!!

  37. Hi Alicia. Your daughter is so cute. I love her expressions. I love her pink fluffy stuff on her top too.

Thanks for visiting my blog over the last week while I was busy with my mom. Thanks for your words of encouragement.

My mom is doing really good. I'm staying around home for a couple days. I have a job orientation tomorrow.

Things were getting unorganized around here too so I took a break. I figure I drove over 360 miles in the last 7 days. I usually stick around home.

    Take care,
    Nannette
