WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU APPLES...

Make apple crisp...

Photobucket

We had an over abundance of apples, so instead of them going to waste, I decided to make an apple crisp. I googled "Easy Apple Crisp Recipe" and got this from cooks.com.

It was delicious! Do you see how it formed almost a pie crust on top? So good!!! I will definitely make this again....and again....and again!

1 c. sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
6 peeled and sliced large apples
3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter

Combine 1/2 c. sugar, lemon juice, water and cinnamon in bottom of small baking pan. Slice in apples. Blend remaining 1/2 c. sugar, flour, salt and butter until crumbly. Spread over apples and pat smooth.

Bake at 375°F. for 40-50 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is browned. Serve hot with ice cream. This is a good recipe for apple crisp if you don't like the over-sugary oatmeal taste. It's basically a rectangular apple pie, but healthier (no lard).

  9. That looks so delicious! I love apple crisp but the ones I used to make were more of a crumble, using oatmeal and other things on top. Which were really good but that one sounds and looks so much yummier. I'll have to try that soon.

  10. YUM! BTW, I'm making spaghetti Saturday. I figure I can make the sauce in advance and then just throw everything else together at the last minute.
