ONE WEEK TO GO...

Till our school year starts!

Where did the summer go?

When I was in school, I remember starting AFTER Labor Day.

Well, I guess the upside to starting early, is ending earlier next year.

So, now I will have a Freshman, an 8th, 5th, 3rd, and 2nd grader! Wha????

I can't believe this is our 9th year of homeschooling!

I told my eldest that this is when it "counts." Not that it didn't count before, but high school is no joke. I know I will have to stay on top of him to make sure he stays on track.

The one thing (which was the most important) that I failed to do last year was have a devotion with them in the morning. This way, our day starts off right, and it's not as chaotic during the day. Not that it won't ever be, but at least our hearts will be in the right place (especially me). It's not enough for me to have my alone time with the Lord, but we all need to be in one accord.

One thing my oldest daughter requested was that we do more field trips. I'm glad our church has a homeschool group, and they plan trips throughout the year. But, of course, we won't be limited to just that.

All the new curriculum is organized, and the kids dread hearing me say, "We're staring school in one week!"

So, have your kids started school already?

Kaish starts after labor day. Phew. He goes to public school. I have a friend who has always had her kids in christian school. This year they are out of money. She is going to homeschool even though she is dreading it. It makes me sort of sad when some christians refuse to consider public school. I know God is in my son's school. What do you think about that Alicia. Can you think of any resources I can share with my friend to make her year better? Girls are in 6th and 3rd grade. Oldest has mild autistic tendancies.

In about a week my son begins school for the first time too. I'm sad. I know it will be good for him, but I still cry that he will go away from me.

It is wonderful that you homeschool. My hearts desire was to do that..but only if dh agreed. He didn't

I love your idea of morning devotions with all of them. This I will strive to do with my sweetie before he leaves for each day.

Kudos to you! And wishing your a successful semester with your children.

Time flies when you're having a great time.

Over here, the school holidays will break for a week in the first week of September.

Have a wonderful semester, Alicia.

you have the same month of opening classes in Vietnam... I know it because my daughter in law is teaching in a Korean International School. Her daughter is home schooling. Oh! you have still time for family devotion, here in the Philippines the classes starts early in the morning so my children here have family devotions only during Saturdays.

We go year round but have a pretty relaxed summer schedule. Since baby is due any day we probably won't start our Fall session until a couple of weeks after she's born. This year I'll have a 3rd grader a kinder and a preschooler plus baby. I thought I was feeling overwhelmed!

You are a brave lady! :) Best of luck to all of you...I'm sure it will be a great year!

We've already started school but since we homeschool, we choose to begin a little early.

It's not easy to transistion from summer to school...for anyone.

It's right around the corner for a lot of kids...our kids start on Wednesday! I think we are all ready for it though.

Sounds like you got a good plan in place again. Enjoy the last week of summer.

I totally agree. We started family devotions at the end of last year. It helped. we don't start until after labor day.

The Midge starts next Monday as well, but since she'll be going off to school it's different for me. I really wish they wouldn't start until after Labor Day too. There's just too much summer left!

Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Teachers start back to school this Wednesday and the kiddos return next Monday, the 16th. KK is so excited. I still can't believe she is going to be in Kindergarten. :) Lana

The summer has been cut short here too. The kids didn't get out until mid June because of so many snow days to make up, and they're starting back next week, a week early, in case of potential future snowdays. Bryce will be in the number going to school this year as we've decided to try kindergarten. Pray for me as I let my baby go, and I'll pray for you for rich success in homeschooling. :)

You're not kidding with high school being the "big time". My youngest slacked off Freshman and Sophomore years and even though she got 4.0 all Senior year, it wasn't enough to bring it up to scholarship level from when she let it slide. Tell him at least do really well his first couple of years and THEN slack off. HA HA Good for you for homeschooling!! ♥♥

Our kiddos go back on the 23 hear in TX and I am not sure I am prepared at all

I think kids should start after Labor Day...summer's too short as it is, but homeschooling must make the transition easier. I can't imagine teaching such a wide variety...I taught art a zillion years ago...I still miss the excitment of Fall!

School starts on the 18th here for all grades except K and 1, and they start on the 24th.

I also want to do a devotion with Kendra in the morning before she heads off to school. My mom used to do that with us when we were in school, and it really does help start the day off right. :)

Way to go on home-schooling for so many years! My hat goes off to anyone who can, and can do it successfully! I don't think that I could, at least not until they are older. I just don't have enough patience for that!

I love how the Lord is speaking to your heart my friend to be a strong Christian and teach your kids about the Lord with detions. I hope to homeschool Karina and I iwll be needing your advice;D Thanx for inspiring me to also do devotions and take her on field trips once in while. You are always such an inspiration to me.
