SCHOOL IS COOL!

I have to confess, that when my kids first started school, I was a little apprehensive. Not for the social reasons though. Just the academic part. Up until this point, "I" was their teacher. Everything they knew (or lack of) was really a reflection of me, their mom/teacher. Then I realized how prideful that was. Even if they weren't up to speed with their classmates, this would be a new beginning for us, and I really did have faith that they would be just fine!

It was a huge adjustment from going to no set schedule, to being totally, 100%, on someone else's time. Just learning to raise your hand to ask a question was a biggie. No more talking when you felt like it! But, little things like that was a smooth transition for them.

I'd say that my two younger ones were the most challenged, however you would never be able to guess that. They work hard, listen in class, and are striving tremendously! They just ended the 2nd quarter, and they are getting all A's!!

This was one of Daniel's most recent Phonics test! He was so proud!!

And I just love Veronica's cursive! Her and Daniel have almost identical penmanship.

And as far as my other kids, the two Junior Highers are doing well. Miranda is still learning when and when not to be sociable (meaning she talks too much), and Isaiah needs a little push (shove) along the way. But, he is doing so much better than he was if I was still homeschooling!! And, finally, Eli, my 10 year old, is doing wonderfully too. His teacher just told me that his grades improved from the 1st quarter as well. He's also getting A's & B's!!

What a BIG STEP for you & your family! I am so glad it is working out! For me I knew even though I never wanted my babies to go to school :) that I could never homeschool or we would hate each other :) Even though I used to be a teacher I am not as oatient with my own kids :) But I do think every family is so different & it is an amazing way to have your kids grow up too! LOVE that "know when to be socilable" A girl after my own heart :)

New follower from FMBT! I look forward to reading more from you. I was the same way when my oldest started school and I will admit still a little so. I will continue to work with them at home until I feel they are getting all they need at school.

How great that the transition is over (always the toughest part) and they are settled in and thriving in their new school! That's awesome.

I would have never realized how hard it would be to go from talking whenever you want pretty much to a classroom atomsphere with hand raising. But now that you mention it, I would struggle with that A LOT!

I am sure that transition was scary for all of you. How wonderful that everyone is doing so well!

I had this moment this morning when I realized that my little girl won't be at home forever. Of course, I know that but it just hit me this morning. I need to enjoy the moments. School is cool and I am glad your kiddos are doing so well.
