A Vacation to Remember...
1987
I wish back then I had a camera, or even documented our road trip we took with my grandparents. I was 17 years old at the time, and my grandparents decided to DRIVE from Virginia to California to pick up my sister and I. The reason they drove? My grandma did not like to fly.
After a week or so of them spending time in CA, me, my sister (who is two years older), and my grandparents got in their VW van and headed back east to Virginia! We drove through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, and then stopped in Illinois for a few days to spend time with my aunt, and to also pick up our cousins! We continued on to Indiana, Ohio, got a flat tire in West Virginia, and finally made our way to Norfolk!
The funnest parts of that road trip was staying at a hotel each night, having endless amounts of snacks, buying postcards in each state, me and my sister making fun of my grandparents snoring, and my grandpa letting me drive even though I didn't have a license yet! Besides him, I was the only one who knew how to drive a stick shift! Go, me!
And, after being in Virginia for most of the summer, I came back to California saying, "Ya'll" to all my friends!
