FRIDAY PHOTO FLASHBACK

I started "Friday Photo Flashback" because I have so many pictures from my PRE-digital camera days. I thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! So dig out the photo albums and put your scanner to good use! Don't forget to sign in to MckLinky so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs!

This picture is almost exactly 8 years ago that we moved back to California, from Hawaii.

The night before we moved, we went to dinner with my sister and her family, my mom, and a mutual friend (who is in the picture below).

We all talked, looked at pictures from the time we were there, sang worship songs, cried, laughed, and cried some more.

To say it was an emotional night is an understatement.

My sister and I have always been close, but when we lived there for those eight months, our bond got even stronger, and the same went for our kids. You can imagine how sad we all were to be moving back even though God closed the door on our time living there, and opened every door for us to come back.

But, before I sound too depressing, my sister and her family travel to California frequently so we see them at least twice a year. Her husbands family is from here too.

So, back to this night.

It was getting pretty late and we had to be up really early to get to the airport. But, before we left, we all prayed together, and our friend Tony wanted to pray with the kids as well. So, this picture is of him with three of the kids. My other nephew was already sleeping by this time. If you look on the far left, you can see Eli cruising around, Isaiah is on the left, Miranda in the middle, and my nephew Joshua on the right.

It was a very special evening...

I just love the composition of this picture...it tells such a story, without any words. What a difficult time that must have been and, yet, everyone looks happy in their moment of prayer.

How sweet of your friend to pray with your kids. I love looking at those little legs exploring things on toes :-) It's a relief when goodbyes are not forever and you get to see loved ones again.

Amen to that, praying is one special bond between family and friends!

Would you like to see how I look like 29 years ago, come and see!

Oh how touching it was to know the story behind this precious photo. Your friend and the kid were praying. How precious it is to see kids pray together.. Surely it was a fragrant scent to the Lord. Glad to know that you are still seeing your sister at least twice a year despite of the distance.

Beautiful moment to share!!

I was going to do a FF when I realized I had lost an entire picture folder in my memory card. Major bummer!! Looks like I have to go thru the entire conversion process again. I'll definitely join you folks again next FF!!

I'm so jealous! You got to live in Hawaii, and now California. I would feel like I died and went to heaven. Alas, I'm still stuck here in this little yawn of a city...

I can only imagine what an emotional time that was for you. It's never easy to move away. Especially from Hawaii!

What a super special moment to have on film! I can't imagine how emotional it must have been, moving is so tough especially when you're moving from a place so difficult to travel to! ((HUGS))

A very sweet memory.

After being near enough to my family to see them 8-12 times a year (a six hour drive away that we made OFTEN), we're now a three hour drive or a several-thousand-dollar-flight away and see eachother maybe once a year.

It's hard.
