Friday Photo Flashback
I started "Friday Photo Flashback" because I have so many pictures from my PRE-digital camera days. I thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! So dig out the photo albums and put your scanner to good use! Don't forget to link up so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs!
1972
I'm totally guessing on the year here, but from the way my mom looked (on the far left), I will assume it was around the Sonny & Cher era!
And since it's New Year's weekend, I knew I had to share these photos! I'm also pretty positive that my dad is the one behind the camera!
You can totally tell they were having lots of fun!!!!
They definitely knew how to party! LOL

Who Needs Beauty School...??
When you can just invest in this!??!!
I'm pretty sure this is less expensive than going to the salon!
The skies the limit here!
Now I can say I've seen it all!
Thanks, Barb!

Who Comes Up With This Stuff
All I know is that when my mom showed this to me, I could not stop cracking up (because of the name). All I envisioned was somebody wearing this all day, and just laying around doing nothing! Then, I was laughing even more because she asked my oldest son if he wanted one. All I could picture was him in that, while playing his XBOX 24/7!
But, seriously..who thinks of these names of these things?

My Favorite Surprise
It was about a half an hour after everyone was done opening their presents, when my eldest son came up to me and said, "Oh..here mom, I bought this gift for you. I forgot I had it in my desk."
I was like, "Awww!! When did you get this?"
Turns out he bought this during a field trip when they were at the Outlet Malls!!
Not only that, he bought his little sister earrings, too!!!!!!!
Then, he hands me this beautiful necklace.

Fun At Disney!
I'm so glad that my sister in-law let me upload her pictures to my computer! It was such a blessing to see how much fun the kids had!
It was also funny hearing how my youngest son (on the far left) was scared to go on a couple of the rides (Tower Of Terror & Indiana Jones to name a few). But, he survived, and lived to tell how exciting those rides were!
Here are some of my favorite pictures from their trip!
I just love how they are posing naturally here!
My sons being goofy as usual. And there is my daughter in the middle looking annoyed!
This one CRACKED ME UP! Look at my daughters expression in the front row. My son must have been irritating her on the TOWER OF TERROR (because he was so scared), so she was probably thinking, "Chill out!"

And, my favorite of all! They had their caricatures done, and my sis in-law framed them for us!

Holiday Baking
Of course, it's that time of year when every other persons blog posts about something they've baked or handmade.
I love to bake. If I had a bigger kitchen, or even a kitchen aid mixer, I may even bake more things. But, I always keep it simple, because thankfully, my kids love the traditional recipes! But, I do look at other blogs and drool at the things that people make. I think that helps motivate me to bake stuff of my own! I'm still not done baking, but I wanted to share what I had already!
Every Christmas, my kids request Hidden Kisses cookies. I got this recipe from my Paula Deen cookbook! This is always a winner, and it looks more complicated than it really is!
I also made a dark chocolate cookie with Ghiradelli white chocolate chips!
And my husbands favorite..Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies! So easy!!! This is the easiest one by far!

Since it's Christmas in a few days, I think this Flashback Photo is perfect!
I was probably about 8 years old at the time (far right), and here I am with my mom and sister on Christmas Day! When we were kids, my parents bought us all the coolest games and toys! We had all the current board games, too! See that big box on the left? That was a two sided Pinball machine table! I remember our friends coming over and wanting to always play with it!!! It's no wonder why I love board games till this day!

Whale Watching=FAIL
My two older kids had the choice of going to Disneyland with their siblings, however, they opted not to go because they wanted to do their "own teenager thing."
So, instead of seeing Mickey, my sis in-law asked if they would like to spend the weekend in Monterey, and also go on a whale watching tour.
They were more than ecstatic about that!!!
At the wharf, waiting to get on the boat!
I'm sure at this point, they couldn't wait to see a whale!
But, I guess the waves got to them, and they ended up doing this instead!!
Sleeping IN the boat due to motion sickness!! Ahh..what a waste!
But, with good food later on, you can see that all's well that ends well!
Back to normal!
I love this picture of the wharf!!

But, they had BLAST that weekend. Besides the whale watching, they went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, ate good food, came home with all kinds of stuff (from candy to apparel..lol), and of course, funny stories!!!

I Left My Heart In San Francisco
Okay..I know..my B.A.D. I've been absent from my blog for over a month!! I've never done that before! Sometimes the busyness of life gets in the way, and it's hard to squeeze in just a few minutes of bloggy time! But, I assure you that I am okay!! I've missed updating my blog..but instead of trying to add everything in at once, I'll just start from "now" and fill in the blanks later!
Well, we are officially on Christmas break from school as of this week. It's been fabulous not having a schedule! My sister in-law blessed my three youngest kids by taking them to Disneyland for FOUR days! They come back Thursday, and I miss them sooooo much! Thank God for technology because my son texts me a couple of times during the day to let me know how much fun they're having, and what rides they went on! But, you can imagine how quiet the house has been with just the older kids!
Since they are away, I figured I'd take advantage of the time we have with the older kids! We took BART to San Francisco, and hung out around Union Square until my husband got off work! He works in the city, so it was so convenient for him to meet up with us when he got off (which is early..2:30)!
Here is the huge Christmas tree smack dab in the middle of Union Square, across the street from Macy's. And yes..there's my daughter, not in the mood for pictures. Ha..gotcha!
To the left of the tree is the outside skating rink. It's right next to that ticket booth! And my husbands office is right there in the background!!
After my husband picked us up, we drove to Ocean Beach. This picture was taken with my cell phone, but you can see Isaiah right in the middle! The Cliff House is way in the background.
Here is another view of the beach. We were way above this, but I zoomed in with my cell phone to take a shot of this pretty pattern someone made in the sand!
Finally, we were all starving, so we ate at our favorite Chinese restaurant close by. Here are my goofballs! They can never give me a "nice" picture. But, oh well..this is them..being THEM!

I don't recall the exact year of this picture, but it had to be around 1973 since we were still living in Moffett Field (Naval housing).
That's my dad, me, my sister, and my mom.
Everything about this picture screams "70's".
For example, the funky astrological chart behind my dad.
The way my parents looked like the Filipino Sonny & Cher.
Or, how my sisters hairstyle makes me think of The Bay City Rollers.
Oh, and we can't leave out the mini bar to the left!!
Wow!

This picture is almost exactly 10 years ago that we moved back to California, from Hawaii.
The night before we moved, we went to dinner with my sister and her family, my mom, and a mutual friend (who is in the picture below).
We all talked, looked at pictures from the time we were there, sang worship songs, cried, laughed, and cried some more.
To say it was an emotional night is an understatement.
My sister and I have always been close, but when we lived there for those eight months, our bond got even stronger, and the same went for our kids. You can imagine how sad we all were to be moving back even though God closed the door on our time living there, and opened every door for us to come back.
But, before I sound too depressing, my sister and her family travel to California frequently so we see them at least twice a year. Her husbands family is from here too.
So, back to this night.
It was getting pretty late and we had to be up really early to get to the airport. But, before we left, we all prayed together, and our friend Tony wanted to pray with the kids as well. So, this picture is of him with three of the kids. My other nephew was already sleeping by this time. If you look on the far left, you can see Eli cruising around, Isaiah is on the left, Miranda in the middle, and my nephew Joshua on the right.
It was a very special evening...

I'm taking you back...way back, to Moffett Field, California! We dad was in the Navy and we were stationed there. We lived there up until I started Kindergarten. I had to be around 3 or 4 years old, and yes, I was skating already!! Those weren't the plastic wheels, those were the old school metal wheels..lol. And as you can see, my parents did not worry about me spraining my ankle (see the unlaced boots). It' so funny when I look at this picture because Veronica totally has my legs!
This picture is a little blurry because I'm sure I was skating, and back then, the cameras didn't have the "sport" option. Oh, and I just remembered something! My dad took my sister and I roller skating when I was in elementary school (in fact, it's the same place we take our kids to go roller skating now) and I remember him skating so good! He was rexing and skating backward! I found out later that he was a roller skating champ in the Philippines when he was a teenager!!! No wonder my kids picked up on it so quick..heehee.

Life's A Beach
My youngest daughter's class had a field trip to the San Francisco Zoo. Since my husband works in the city, I thought it would be a great idea for him to pick her up when they were done! She was so excited when she knew that her daddy would be waiting for her!
They drove to Ocean Beach (across the street) and then went to McDonald's!

Very Special Day
My baby of the bunch turns 8 years old today!
She has grown so much in the last couple of years, but she knows she will always be my "baby."
And even though she's not a little girl anymore, she is still sweet, sensitive, affectionate, and loving. On top of that, she's very bright. Did I mention she got all A's the first quarter of school!
Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with my precious girl.

Here's another one out of the archives!!
I thought it would be fun to dig out a photo of Isaiah in a costume. He was 2 1/2 in this picture (1998), and I remember this day vividly! I was still working, but my husband was already off of work and had already picked up Isaiah & Miranda from daycare. Their costumes and makeup were ready, so all he had to do was dress them up for me. I had him hurry up so he could bring them to my work so all my co-workers could see them. I know I have a picture of Miranda somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look for it. She was dressed as a tiger and looked so ADORABLE! And here is Isaiah in his little clown outfit! What a cutie!

I'm not sure if I've ever shared this picture, but I'm too lazy to look back in the archives! This was when short/big hair was in style! Think of Duran Duran, Depeche Mode..and all those types of bands! I so thought I was cool...but, I was so not!! And I can't believe how much makeup I wore at 15 years old!!
