MAKING YOUR HOME SING MONDAY

I am linking up with my friend, Mom's The Word to participate in her Monday meme, "Making Your Home Sing Monday." It's a day when we share what we are doing to bless our families in our home. If you would like to join in, click here.

For many of you, your kids have started their new school year! Ours is quickly approaching and I don't want to start the year "mentally" unprepared!

Because of the homeschool program we use, our books and any material we need for all their subjects are sent to us. I don't even have to order them! Even all five of their lesson plans are laid out for them for the year (on the computer)! It's been such a huge blessing and a humongous load off of my shoulders to not have to worry about those things!

However, because of that, I feel like I can wait till the very last minute to get ourselves in gear! Well, I learned my lesson the hard way, and I know now that we are definitely doing things different around here this school year! But, first and foremost, I must take everything to the Lord first. I don't know how many times I've tried to homeschool "on my own" and the day was just a disaster. I have to rely on Him completely, 100%, or else we will fail, or rather, I will fail them.

So, in Making My Home Sing this week, I will pray about what kind of schedule works for the kids and I. I'm not one of those parents who say, "Get up by 7, and be at the table by 8!" No..so NOT me! However, that could be a blessing and a curse. I need to be realistic about our time, and how we use it. And how does that start? With ME being THE example! I don't want to start the first day of school with blinders on, so I will pray about it, and implement these changes A.S.A.P.!

Yea.. i've said it before, but I don't know how you do it with FIVE. My entire hall closet is a disaster, plus the kitchen table, and the counter in the office. And, I have only one little boy, in PRE-SCHOOL. Not even big kid school. I give you props.......seriously.. I wrote a post that will be out tomorrow about how it's going btw, and you are one of the girls I want to thank for being SOOOOOO supportive with all my homeschool should I or shouldn't I's...

Wow, everything is ready for ya? That sounds like such a blessing.

You go girl, you can do it. You are so right, when we try to do things in our strength we make such a mess of things.

I wish I had the courage to just homeschool the kids:(

So far this new charter school is not been the best. But I do know it's the first year and things have to be worked out. So I have just been praying that everything will be ok.

a day sewn in prayer will keep it from unraveling. I know you will be able to work out a schedule that is conducive for you and your children.

Isn't it wonderful to have someone you can rely upon, and know they'll be there for you without fail? God is good!

You are so right...everything to the Lord first. Being Spiritually prepared as well as mentally and physically, sure makes things go a whole lot easier. This year will be a great one for you!

Beautiful reminder for us all to seek the Lord first and His plans for us. I also posted about how important it was for me to set the example in my home. Blessings on your new homeschooling year!

Dear Alicia,

We ALL need to put our daily plans in the Lord's hands EVERY DAY! That is the ONLY way to get the job done right.
God bless your schooling!

I think you will find just the right balance this time. Although with so many kids, I can't believe you can keep it all straight.

Amen sister! Can't tell you the number of ways the Lord has blessed our homeschooling through answered prayer.

Everybody is different about getting up. When the kids were little I would get them up at 7:00 and we would start school at 7:30. I wanted to get school done early and not have it last all day.

My friend would sleep until 9 or 10 and so her kids would start school much later. She didn't mind schooling into the late afternoon, but I did.

Whatever works, right? It's cool that they send you all that stuff. I have to get my own stuff and there was one year where I waited to long and had to start school without my son's Algebra book, lol!

Mine came but his was delayed, so I just photocopied the lessons from mine (and whited out the answers) and let him do it that way.

I think that is wonderful that your homeschool is complete. I know that makes it easier.
Of course, my son wants to start at 6:45 in the morning. Ugh! I am so not a morning person.
BTW, you won my giveaway for the summer cool down gift bag. Could you email your address within the next three days to aw 97 bw @yahoo.com

Can you come to Connecticut and help me get organized for our school year? WAHHHHHHHHHH, I am so overwhelmed this fall.

OK, I guess that is out of the question, maybe say a teeny prayer that I get my act together this week!
