I actually have an official "teenager" now!

Today, Isaiah, my eldest, turns 13!! Wow!!!! I'm still in shock over that! Where did the time go? I can recall the night so vividly when I woke up to use the restroom and discovered I had blood EVERYWHERE! Surprisingly, with this being my first baby, I was pretty calm! Somehow I knew everything was going to be okay!
To make a long story short, my placenta had detached, I had to be induced, and he was born one month premature! He weighed 6lbs. & 13 ounces! Not bad for a preemie!
If you look at him now, he's taller than me and practically has a "man" voice! But, if you were to spend even five minutes with him, you will see that he has the most gentlest way about him.
I want to cry just writing about him because he is my "first born," the one baby who I carried ALL THE TIME! Sling? What sling? He slept in our bed from the time he was 6 months old till about 7 years old! LOLOLOL! I'm not ashamed to admit that! People called us crazy, but oh well, I knew he'd outgrow it one day!
He's affectionate, caring, goofy, musically gifted, and smart, and the last thing he would ever want to do is hurt someones feelings. I'm so blessed to have a son like him, who is not embarassed to still hug me and kiss me on the cheek in front of his friends. He's literally like a big teddy bear!!

Here all my kids in May at a nearby park. Although they may bicker and get on each other's nerves at times, he would do anything to protect them.

Colton loved Toy Story too. He had the talking Woody doll and I had to replace it twice because he made it talk so much that it wore it out haha.
That is a great pic of all your kids! Why can't my kids all smile nicely like that?? I always have one that doesn't and after taken a dozen pics I just give up LOL.

I remember when my oldest turned 13, at one point he began acting a bit disrespectful and showing attitude.
When we called him on it he said something like "But I'm a teenager, I'm supposed to act this way."
We said nope, not in this house. You will continue to be respectful in your words and actions and be responsible for your behavior.
So we continued to hold him accountable for his behavior and not allow him to blame it on being a teen, so actually the teen years went very well.
Funny thing is, when his brother turned 13 he said pretty much the same thing "I can't help it! I'm a teen. I'm supposed to act this way."
The teen years are awesome. They really are. It is a joy to watch your child mature into the man God is calling him to be (or woman as you have girls).
Just hold the line, girl, and hold them accountable as you did when they were younger!

Just yesterday I was trying to explain what a teenager was to my 5 yr old and how you call them that b/c teen comes at the end of their number. He couldn't quite grasp the concept.

Don't worry Alicia all of my kids were in our bed and Joel well, he still is, they grow up too soon and I was working at the time so that was my time to cuddle when they were sleeping so sweetly next to me.
