Can you guess what the theme is for this week?
The kids will have a few projects done each day! With a smaller group, it's not so stressful to get it done right away. I think I had the easiest job because I was mainly taking pictures and watching the kids during free play. However, I will spare you the 148 photos that I took! Besides, I need to be really careful of posting pictures of other peoples children without having their permission first.
Here is a group shot of all the kids in the program. You can get an idea of how many were there. It is such a smaller group compared to last year. Much more manageable indeed! After the devotion and worship, they were separated into groups according to their grades.
First project...paper mache faces! Here is Veronica and her friend Molly, getting messy!! When these dry, they will get to paint them. They also asked me to take close up black and white pictures of all the kids faces because I think they are going to print copies of them and use part of the picture for their masks! I can't wait to see exactly what it is they're going to do!
Yes, you are seeing empty egg shells that have been rinsed. Don't worry, the eggs were not wasted. They were used for the womens breakfast on Saturday. The kids got to grind the egg shells because they are going to be used for chalk! I learn something new everyday!
There's Eli on the right!
Next they made sculpting clay. I missed the main ingredients, but i know that one of them was coffee grinds!! After you sculpt it, you leave it alone, and it eventually gets hard!
Not sure what he ended up making...lol.
Free play!
Finally, this is the dough mixture for the last sculpting project! If I remember correctly, Veronica made a heart! Wouldn't you like sink your hands into that gooey mess? Oh, and the lighting in the room is terrible, so that is why some of my pictures came out funky!
At the end of the week, they will have an "art show" for the parents! How fun is that?
Anyway, I'm pooped and it's only the first day! Next week, the theme will be drama, and then in a couple of more weeks we will have VBS!
