YOU'RE GONNA MISS THIS MOMENT

I've been know to say (once or even twice), that I need a break. I'm with my kids practically 24/7, so I don't think I'm being selfish when I express those feelings. And when I say break, I just mean going to the store all by myself, or even having my husband take all the kids somewhere. I don't have to do anything elaborate. I just like to have some quiet moments to myself.

BUT...

After awhile, I start to miss them. I miss hearing their voices, their LAUGHTER, their goofyness with each other, and their spunk for life! There is not one quiet one in the bunch! Of course, there are days when I just can't wait till they all go to bed and I can finally relax and/or pick up the mess they left behind. But, that's all part of being a mom, right? It comes with the territory.

However, one day they will all be on their own, and I KNOW I will miss all those repetitive questions, their daily hugs and kisses, their individual personalities, and just their company, period.

I will cherish each day I have with them. They're not getting any younger, and either am I.

Brunch we had at Panera Bread last week.

Yes I'm right there with you once again! I never ever get alone time...well okay I take that back. I got up at 6 and went to the grocery store for 15 minutes this morning so I was alone but they're all getting ready to get up and it will be over very quickly.

Seems just when they're gone though and I start missing them as soon as they get back I'm ready for a break again :)

I am right there with you. I need a break sometimes, but once i get it, I am done within 10 minutes. Does it happen to you that when you are all on your own on a store or something you keep feeling you are missing something, or keep looking around for your kids forgetting they are not there. That is when you know how use to you are to have them around :) And although there are days I am overwhelmed (like today :)) I wouldn´t trade it for the world

Yes to everything you wrote! Sometimes, I feel like I need a little space or some quiet to get my thoughts together(to get organized)but that might just mean 15 minutes....and then I'm back to our thang!

I use their school time as my "Me time." I know they must grow up, but I fear I may have a very hard time watching them leave our home for good. But, I trust they will be just fine.

So very true! I get to the point where I need some time away from all those little people, then when I am away I miss them, or I find myself talking about them. But, it's good to have some mom time. It always refreshes me so I can keep on going!

Since I go to class every Monday night for about 3hrs, it's a nice treat to get away from the kids, but I always end up missing them!! I sit there and wonder "what are they doing now??" LOL.

I feel this way too. And even after they fall asleep and I look at them, I want them awake again! lol

Yes just a few hrs at the store alone or even home, would be great. Alas there are no family members around here to help and I'm with my babies 24/7

But then too...soon they'll be off and I'll miss it all. So I will enjoy it with every emotion that comes along with being a mom to these blessings.

I always thought I can't wait for the day when the kids are all in school. Well, that day will be Tuesday and I'm going to miss them terribly. Great post.

Alicia, I totally understand what you mean. My dear friend Kim comes over when she needs a "break", but she always ends up missing the kids after a while - no matter how much girl fun we are having. It's that Momma's heart. I like this Meme, I'd never seen it before, so I joined in today!

I feel the exact same way. I always miss the kids when they or I am away. I end up hating the quiet even though I know how loud all of them can be.

Time is flying too fast and sometimes I wish I could freeze it and keep them little for just a while longer :(

So true. I often need moments to myself, but something usually pops up and reminds me of one of the kids and I start to miss them.

(This is when I usually try to conjure up the latest temper tantrum in my mind to get me to at least savor the moments of solitude.)

I love that Trace Atkins song, "You're Gonna Miss This." Have you ever heard it?

I have been crying and crying and crying this last week before school starts because I can't stand the growing. I miss my baby!

I don't even like to think "You're going to miss this", because my kiddos are just 4 and 1, and I already feel that way! Especially about them being tiny infants. Sigh...

That's why I love photos so much, like these you've shared. Simple moments, but the best ever. :)

Alicia,

How do those people (our children) manage to weave themselves into our lives, twist our emotions in all sorts of directions, cause us headaches, make us shake our heads wondering how they got here and realize we played a large role in their arrival, make us scream for their absence (just a few seconds) only to miss them terribly the moment they're gone?

I'm totally w/you. When Dad takes them out for a while or I get to just go to the grocery store, it is a nice reprieve, but is so funny how I miss everyone (even my husband) when they aren't around. Thank God for my family.
