I'M GETTIN' READY!!

I got my turkey!!! Actually, my hubby got the turkey at Costco today! A 22 pounder to be exact!! I'm going to try this great recipe that I got from Susie at Susie's Homemade! It sounds so yummy and tasty, I can't wait to try it!

We're hosting Thanksgiving this year, and I'm really excited to have family and friends over! I'm supposed to call my dad tomorrow to invite him and his wife, but I have no idea if they already have other plans. My mom is coming, and she is bringing a couple of pies and stuffing. One of my friends is bringing a green salad (she makes great ones), mashed potatoes, and her husband is going to bake brownies! In addition to my turkey, I'll be making yams, spinach dip, rice, and my husband is going to pick up egg rolls that day. We'll also have the regular sides like rolls, cranberry sauce, and gravy. I know..it's not the "traditional" meal, but that's how we do it! We like alot of everything! The more the merrier!! So, my turkey sits in the fridge...defrosting and I am not looking forward to getting the bag out, that's for sure! That part always creeps me out!

So tell me, what are your plans? Are you hosting or being a guest?

Wow! Thanks for the shout out! And I hope you and your family enjoy the recipe. Don't forget to double everything since my recipe was for an 11 pounder:-) Enjoy:-)

Just a head's up. If you bought frozen, read the instructions on the package. Mine took 3 days to thaw in the frig.

Well as you know we won't be at home. Not sure what kind of food we will be eating...lol.It might be from a hot odg vendor! But that's ok with me.

The menu sounds yummy!

"Traditional" is whatever your family makes it..it's perception and everyone will have their own traditions, so don't fret! :)

I am having extended family over (7 adults plus 3 kids, plus my family). I am doing the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos, and rolls...then everyone is bringing a dish to pass (hey I am hosting, it's a requirement! LOL) Enjoy your Turkey day!

We had my husband's family over last Saturday at our new place, it was nice. But on Thursday we will be going to my Uncle's house as we do every year.

We are hosting and one of my brothers and sister-in-love will be here, and my sis and her hubby, and my mom.

Girl, haven't you been reading my last two posts on turkeys? And you went out and bought one anyway? Grab your kids and run for your lives....that turkey is in your fridge right now, plotting about how it's going to take over, lol! Stick with the egg rolls...

This year we are having it at my parents, because all us siblings are spilt up for three years we have had steaks, so Thursday is an ALL out traditional Thanksgiving feast and I can't wait!

sounds like fun!

I hope your meal turns out just like you're picturing it in your head!!!

Our plans are simple. Going to the in-laws for dinner and all she wants me to bring are my "famous" mashed turnips. They also invited my mom and dad to come, since we didn't get a chance to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with them, since they were leaving for a month long vacation the day after.

I'm hosting as a guest... does that make sense? My sister's got a new baby, so I'm cooking for her at her house. Fair trade-off, I think.

It's funny because right now there are 3 turkeys in our work fridge. Guess people tried to do a little shoppin' on their lunch breaks...

Yep, sounds like you're getting it ready friend! I'm hosting this year. We were going to do Mexican food but decided today to change it at the last minute. Long story! I think I am in denial that we're already having Thanksgiving again and then Christmas. It seems like we just finished these two holidays like last week.
